Yeonnam-dong is a cafe, restaurant, accessory-shop, and dating strip in Yeonnam-dong, Mapo-gu. Within walking distance of Hongik University and Gyeongui-Jungang Yeonnam stations; popular for a calmer vibe than Hongdae.
History & background
In the 2010s cafes, brunch, and restaurants opened in relatively quiet Yeonnam-dong near Hongdae, creating the 'Yeonnam-dong' brand. Gyeongui-Jungang Yeonnam Station in 2014 improved access.
Why it's famous
Cafes, brunch, restaurants, and accessory shops are dense in alleys; dating and Instagram visitors flock. Real-time population is very high at weekend lunch and afternoon.
