Seoul Square

Seoul Square is a large pedestrian and event square in front of Seoul City Hall on Sejong-daero, Jung-gu. Adjacent to City Hall and Deoksugung; events, assemblies, tourism, and through traffic are very heavy.

History & background

In 2004 the pedestrian space in front of Seoul City Hall was developed as Seoul Square. Used for major events, assemblies, and citizen rest; it is Seoul's representative space.

Why it's famous

City Hall, Deoksugung, and event space in one place; tourists and commuters are steady on event days and weekends. Real-time population is high during events and at lunch.

Transport & access

Subway Lines 1·2 City Hall, Line 5 Gwanghwamun. City bus to Seoul Square and City Hall. Walking to Deoksugung and Gwanghwamun.
